Features

The Ostropomycetidae are partially Flechtenbildner, the thallus is crust- like or thread-like. The photobiont belonging to the genus Trentepohlia, Coccomyxa, Trebouxia or other chloroccalen green algae.

The fruiting bodies are sunk in the thallus, sessile or stalked on in, have the shape of apothecia or perithecia. Eight or fewer ascospores are formed per ascus.
