Ostthüringer Zeitung

The Ostthüringer newspaper ( OTZ ) is a regional newspaper based in Gera. Together with a partial edition of the Thuringian newspaper they reached a paid circulation of 100 086 copies.

The OTZ has been published since the early 1990s, every day except Sundays in the east of Thuringia in Ostthüringer newspaper publisher, which 40 percent of Spark Media Group, formerly WAZ media group belongs. Together with the Thüringer Allgemeine (TA ) and the Thuringian newspaper ( TLZ ) it belongs to the sales network Newspaper Group Thuringia. The total paid circulation of 277 263 copies of three publications. Both papers also belong to the spark media group. In some regions, such as Gera, Jena and the Saale- Holzland, OTZ and TLZ appear parallel. In Gera, a common local section is produced by OTZ and TLZ, which differs only in layout and design. Regional editions appear for the towns of Bad Lobenstein, Eisenberg, Gera, Greiz, Jena, Pössneck, Rudolstadt Saalfeld, Schleiz, Schmölln, Stadtroda and Zeulenroda.

History

The OTZ was indirectly apparent from the Volkswacht, which was the official organ of the SED district leadership Gera in the GDR. The Volkswacht came with her twelve local issues to a circulation of 215,200 copies.

After 1990, the Volkswacht appeared briefly as Ostthüringer News (OTN ). When the WAZ had brought out through a subsidiary with the poached by the Ostthüringer News employees Ostthüringer newspaper in the same distribution area and offered to subscribers of Ostthüringer messages for subscription to the OTN had to cease publication.

Since 2010, the OTZ cooperates content reinforced with the other newspapers Thüringer Allgemeine (TA) and Thuringian newspaper ( TLZ ) of the newspaper group Thuringia ( ZGT ).
