Geography

Ötigheim is located about five kilometers northeast of Rastatt in the Upper Rhine Plain. The town lies on spring creek.

The immediate neighboring municipalities are Bietigheim and stone walls.

History

The " Telldorf " or Etje as it is popularly known, was mentioned in the year 788 for the first time, making it over 1200 years old. Ötigheim is particularly known for its 100 -year-old open-air theater on the borders of Baden. The theater is called Tellplatz, named after " William Tell ", one of the first pieces listed. A part of the community still takes part as an amateur actor.

Since the Reformation walked past Ötigheim, the community is predominantly Roman Catholic, even today. Today's Catholic St. Michael's Church was built after plans by Friedrich Weinbrenner and consecrated in 1831. The few evangelical believers, however, be supplied mentally floorcoverings.

The municipality is a member of the Agreed administrative community of the city of Rastatt.

Blazon: " In red, an upright double golden hook. "

The first impression ( 1495 ) appears in a document issued by the mayor and local court certification. Since then, the unchanged seal image of the double hook was ( also called "wolf iron " or " Wolf Angel "), and the one can be traced back to an old stain mark. After introduction of the municipal constitution, the same figure was used in the church seals and shown since about 1825 crest moderately in an oval shield, which is the contemporary taste appropriately decorated with wreath of leaves and palm leaves. 1901, the allusion to the coat of arms of Baden oblique bar colors have been officially approved for the current coat of arms.

Theater

Since 1906, the big outdoor stage Ötigheim with 4,000 covered seats. The open air theater in 2006 celebrating its 100th anniversary. Companies will take the stage as amateur dramatics e by the Association Volksschauspiele Ötigheim V. The founder of the outdoor stage, Cleric Council, Monsignor Josef Saier, developed artistic and cultural politics and Christian line is considered a binding legacy.

Ötigheim is linked by the national highway 36 ( Mannheim-Lahr/Schwarzwald ) to the national road network. On the railway line Karlsruhe - Durmersheim - Rastatt, on lines S 4 and S 41 of the Stadtbahn Karlsruhe. The Federal Highway 3 also passes through the district municipality.

Education

The Brüchelwaldschule is a primary and secondary school with Werkrealschule. In addition, in Ötigheim are two kindergartens.
