Otto Preißecker

Otto Price Ecker ( Otto Preiss Ecker, born August 3, 1898 in Vienna, † May 30, 1963 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian figure skater and dental practitioners.

Life and work

Otto Price Ecker served two years at the mountain artillery, most recently as a lieutenant in the reserve. A medical studies in Vienna, he graduated in 1923 with a doctorate. In 1924 he took up a course of study of dentistry with Rudolf Weiser and Hans Pichler. Then he remained as a demonstrator and an assistant doctor, then as Assistant Professor at the School of Dental Medicine.

In addition to his profession to price Ecker dedicated to the figure skating. At the World Championships 1925 he won bronze. 1926 and 1927 he was vice-champion behind compatriot Willy Böckl. At the European Championships, he became in 1926 Vice European Champion behind Böckl. 1925 and 1928 he won bronze. He was also in 1926, 1927 and 1928 winner in the Austrian Figure Skating Championships.

In pair skating Price Ecker joined the World Cup 1929 on the side of Gisela high Haltingerstrasse, they were fourth. In her only appearance at the European Championships she won the bronze medal in 1930. 1929 and 1930 they were Austrian runner-up.

1938 Price Ecker habilitated with the work Anatomical- histological studies on temporomandibular joints of dogs in normal and after a sophisticated bite and 1939 university professor in Vienna. 1942 to 1945 he was Director of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Diseases in Vienna and Director of Operative Dentistry at the Dental University Institute. In 1944 he was appointed extraordinary professor. A reputation as a full professor at the German University in Prague, he could not accept. In 1952 he was appointed associate professor of dentistry in Innsbruck. He was on the board of the University of tooth and jaw Hospital Innsbruck and in 1960 full professor. In 1963 he became Professor Emeritus and died shortly afterwards on 30 May 1963.

Price Ecker worked on fixed and removable dentures and materials science, in particular for metallurgy. He dealt with the splinting of teeth and restorative dentistry.
