Owls (band)

Owls was an American emo band from Chicago, Illinois.

Band History

Owls was formed in 2001 under the name The Civil War and should be a revival of the legendary Emo formation Cap'n Jazz, which had been dissolved in 1995. So the line-up consisted of Owls from the brothers Tim and Mike Kinsella Kinsella, together with Victor Villarreal, and Sam Zurick. Tim Kinsella and Zurick already played together with Joan of Arc, Villarreal and Zurick, in turn, had been playing together instrumental rock with Ghosts and Vodka. Davey von Bohlen, also a member of the original line had the emo band The Promise Ring founded and therefore did not participate in the new set-up. Although Owls brought in 2001 with Jade Tree Records under the band name an album out, but broke up in 2002 after a compilation post again, allegedly because of heroin addiction by Victor Villarreal. While Mike Kinsella launched after the separation his solo project Owen, Tim Kinsella and Zurick continued to do music together at Kinsella's project Friend / Enemy. Victor Villarreal founded Noyes.
