Pajumaa ( German Paioma ) is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Hanila ( Hanila vald ) in Lääne in Estonia.

Population and location

The place has eleven inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It is located fourteen kilometers southwest of the city Lihula.

History

In Pajumaa Archaeologists have demonstrated in 1973 traces of a settlement from the second half of the first millennium BC.

Northeast of the village of Castle Hill was located in a former swamp of Linnuse ( Linnuse maalinn ). He was between the 11th and 13th centuries the center of the historic parish.
