Palivere ( German Pallifer ) is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Taebla ( Taebla vald ) in Lääne in Estonia.

Population and location

The village has 654 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011). Its area is 1.4 km ². The village is located 20 kilometers north-east of the district capital of Haapsalu.

The mountain Pikajalamägi is 51 m, the highest peak in the area. At the top there is a ski jumping hill.

History

Today's settlement was mainly in the 1920s around the station building, which was built after the inauguration of the railway between Keila and Haapsalu ( 1906).

During the Soviet occupation of Estonia, the population grew rapidly, as in Palivere a factory for the manufacture of construction materials was created. Besides agriculture still play the metal and woodworking industry and glass manufacture an important economic role.
