Taebla ( German Taibel ) is a village (Estonian alevik ) in Lääne in Estonia. It is the capital of the homonymous country church ( Taebla vald ).

Population and location

The village has 840 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011). Its area is 1.2 km ².

The village than twelve kilometers north-east of the district capital of Haapsalu.

The local train station is on the railway line between Haapsalu and the Estonian capital Tallinn. In 2004, he was shut down.

History

The village was first mentioned in records in 1341 under the name Taybile. The first information about the court date from 1515.

A large population growth experienced Taebla during the existence of the Estonian SSR. In the place a tractor park with numerous workshops arose. Especially the peat in the region was for the Soviet economy of interest.
