Paolo Canè

Paolo Canè ( born April 9, 1965 in Bologna ) is an Italian former tennis player.

Life

Canè was the 1983 Italian junior champion and was in the same year professional tennis player. In 1985 he won at the side of Simone Colombo his first doubles title on the ATP World Tour. With Claudio Panatta he was also in the doubles final of Kitzbühel. Canè and Colombo could defend the title of Bologna, where Canè also stood in the singles final in 1986. They also won the tournament in Palermo. In addition Canè won in Bordeaux his first single title by a final victory over Kent Carlsson. In total he won during his career three singles and three doubles titles. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1989 with position 26 in the singles and in 1985 with position 43 in doubles.

His best individual performance in a Grand Slam tournaments were second-round appearances at the Australian Open, the French Open and Wimbledon. In doubles, he reached the second round of the 1988 French Open.

In the 2-3 first-round defeat by Germany in 1991, he lost both his singles match against Boris Becker and Michael Stich. In the Summer Olympics 1988, he went to the men's singles for Italy.
