Papyrus 12

Papyrus 12 ( referred to in the Gregory- Aland numbering, even with the Sigel 12) is an early copy of the Greek New Testament. Means palaeographic methods is the papyrus dated to about the year 285. This could be have been a writing exercise or an amulet. Currently he is in the Morgan Library & Museum (Pap. Gr 3;. P. Amherst 3b) in New York City kept.

The papyrus contains on the front next to a Christian letter in a second column Heb 1,1.

The special features include the letters παλε for παλαι, the contracted nomen sacrum θς and the addition of ημ [ ω ] ν, ie " Our ( fathers ) ".

The Greek text of this codex probably representative of the Alexandrian text-type, but the text is too short, to be sure. Aland placed it in Category I.

On the back we find the Greek text of Genesis 1:1-5. In the census of the textual witnesses of the Septuagint by Rahlfs the Papyrus receives the No. 912
