Papyrus 70

Papyrus 70 ( Gregory- Aland Sigel 70 referred ) is a early Greek copy of the New Testament. It is a papyrus manuscript of the Gospel of Matthew contains only the verses 2:13-16; 2.22 to 3.1; 11.26 to 27; 12:4-5; 24.3 to 6; 24.12 to 15.

70 has a very reliable text, even though it was written carelessly. Using palaeography he has been dated to the 3rd century.

Text

The Greek text of this codex is a representative of the Alexandrian text-type. Kurt Aland describes him as " strict text" and placed it in Category I.

Place to keep

At present, the manuscript in the Ashmolean Museum ( P. Oxy. 2384 ) in Oxford and at papyrological Institute of National Archaeological Museum Florence kept (CNR 419, 420).
