Paride Taban

Paride Taban (* 1936 in Opari ) is retired bishop of Torit.

Life

Paride Taban received him on 24 May 1964, the ordination. Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop on 28 January 1980 in Juba and Titular Bishop of Tadamata.

The pope personally gave him on the 4th of May of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Cardinal Agnelo Rossi, Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, and Joseph -Albert Cardinal Maloula, Archbishop of Kinshasa.

On 2 July 1983 he was appointed Bishop of Torit. From his office, he resigned on 7 February 2004.

In 2013 he was awarded the Peace Prize of the UN. He has worked among the previously warring after the end of the civil war in the then undivided Sudan exemplifies reconciliation.
