Parques Reunidos

Parques Reunidos is a Spanish operators of water, wildlife and theme parks. With over 60 parks worldwide and nearly 30 of them in Europe, he is one of the largest in Europe. According to the company over 21 million visitors each year visit the parks of the group.

History

The company was founded in 1967 as " Parque de Atracciones Casa de Campo de Madrid, SA" and opened in 1969 to today's Parque de Atracciones de Madrid. Over the years, several animal and water parks were added. In 2003 the company was taken over by U.S. private equity group Advent International, the then 224 million euros financed a rapid expansion and the original Spanish group was also the first time to grow abroad. So the Belgian Bobbejaanland was bought in April 2004, 2006 the French Navy land for 75 million euros and Mirabilandia in Italy. From purchase through Advent until the end of 2006, sales were from 83 to 194 million euros more than doubled.

After a bidding war, the group was in turn sold in early 2007 to the British private equity group Candover. In the further course of the year the group was greatly increased through acquisitions. In addition to the U.S. Park Palace Entertainment Group for about U.S. $ 330 million of the Danish amusement park BonBon-Land purchased for an estimated 20 million euros and TusenFryd for the equivalent of 47 million euros. In addition, the water park Aqualud were acquired in France and 10.4 million pounds three zoos in the UK. The Group also manages the Parque Warner Madrid and has a purchase option for ten years. On 11 December 2007 it was announced that with the purchase of Kennywood and the associated other Parks and Water Parks by U.S. business will be expanded. In May 2010, the Group acquired the German Amusement Park Movie Park Germany.
