The Passage, designed by the architect François Destailleur et Romain de Bourges, had to adapt to the difficult land, so that the first part seen from the Grands Boulevards of ends at a staircase and the passage continues transferred to five descending stages. This part of the passage is narrower and shorter.

The Passage Jouffroy was the first passage, which was built entirely of steel and glass. Only the decorative elements are made of wood and the floor heating was a novelty. Since its renovation in 1987, she has regained its old charm.
