Patriarchate of the West Indies

The Patriarchate of the West Indies (Spanish Patriarcado de las Indias Occidentales Latin Patriarchatus Indiarum Occidentalium ) refers to the West Indies and was founded on May 11, 1524 titulares patriarchy. There was never a diocese, which bore this title. The title Patriarch of the West Indies ( Titularpatriarch ) was awarded an honorary titles, usually to a Spanish bishop, who was Grand Chaplain of the Spanish army at the same time. From 1540 to 1920 mostly wore the Archbishop of Toledo - also Primate of Spain - this item. Since 1963, the title is vacant.
