Patrick Eaves

Patrick Eaves ( born May 1, 1984 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada ) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since August 2009 with the Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League contract, but currently only comes in the AHL for use.

He is the son of Mike Eaves, who was 1978-1986 for the Minnesota North Stars and Calgary Flames in the NHL on the ice.

Career

The 1.83 m tall forward played for the Boston College in the Hockey East, a college league in the National Collegiate Athletic Association before he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2003 as 29 players in the first round by the Ottawa Senators.

Eaves was first in the farm team, the Binghamton Senators, used in the American Hockey League, but still during the 2005/ 06 season completed the right shooter due to the good performance in the lower league his first NHL games for the Ottawa Senators and counted afterwards to the permanent staff.

2007 Eaves was nominated for the taking place in the framework program of the NHL All-Star Game Young Stars Game, where he ran for the team in the Eastern Conference. In February 2008, Eaves was transferred from the Senators to the Carolina Hurricanes. After one season as a regular for the Hurricanes, he was discharged on 24 July 2009 at the Boston Bruins, for he did not play, however. On 4 August 2009 he signed a contract with the Detroit Red Wings. In the 2009/10 season he was in 65 games for the Red Wings in action, shot twelve gates were ten assists and collected 22 points.

In November 2013 Eaves was placed on the Waiver and plays up to a possible change for the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL.

Internationally

With the U.S. U-20 national team, which was coached at the time by his father, he won the gold medal at the 2004 World Championships. Two years earlier, he had already won the U18 national team the gold medal at the 2002 World Championships.
