Patrick Kisnorbo

Patrick Fabio Maxime Kisnorbo ( born March 24, 1981 in Melbourne) is an Australian football player with Italian citizenship, which is at the position of central defender playing currently at Melbourne Heart under contract.

Club career

After Kisnorbo had to go through several youth clubs in Australia and played among others at the Essendon Royals, he moved to South Melbourne FC. After he had been active for three years in the youth of the club, received the young central defender a contract for the professional team, which was then a member of the highest Australian league. Quickly Kisnorbo conquered a starting place and could achieve his first professional hit.

After the interim from the Australian professional league Patrick Kisnorbo moving in 2003 to the Scottish first division club Heart of Midlothian. There, too, Kisnorbo quickly established itself in the middle and played in the UEFA Cup 2003/ 04 his first international club, with him playing time later in the match against Sporting Braga even managed a goal in the same competition. Despite his good performance his contract was not renewed after the 2004/05 season of the Hearts.

Half a year before the end of his time in Scotland with the English second division club Kisnorbo signed Leicester City, where he worked in the next 5 years the status of undisputed master player and fan favorite. On October 15, 2005 compared to Watford FC, he scored his first goal for the new employer. After he was initially employed as a midfielder, he returned to his former center-back position. In April 2008, however, the Australians suffered a serious knee injury, from which he was put out of action for six months, after which a further relapse and re-injury pause. Finally, he had to leave the club at the end of season 2008/ 09, the contract was not renewed.

At the beginning of the season 2009/10 Patrick Kisnorbo signed a new contract with Leeds United. There he was able to convince by good performances, even if overtook him further injury. So he could only be used in last season game because of a torn Achilles tendon and 2010/11.

National

His debut in the Australian national team celebrated Patrick Kisnorbo at the Oceania Championships in 2002, where the team in the final of New Zealand was defeated. Previously, he had already played in the Australian U-21 and U-23 team. Two years later, his team was able, however, rehabilitate and win the title.

After a dressing change, he also took part in the Asian Championships in 2007, where one was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Japan in a penalty shootout.

Even in the successful Australian qualification for the 2010 World Cup came Kisnorbo regularly used. Because of his torn Achilles tendon, however, he could not participate in the final round.

His father is from Mauritius and his mother from Italy.
