Patriotic Front (Zambia)

Patriotic Front is a democratic socialist political party in Zambia.

It was founded in 2001 by Michael Sata, of the Movement for Democratic Change left after the current president Frederick Chiluba had nominated as his successor Levy Mwanawasa.

Since 2013, the Patriotic Front associate member of the Socialist International.

In the election in Zambia 2001 Sata ran for president and won 3.4 percent of the vote. In the concurrent parliamentary elections he won 2.8 percent of the vote and a mandate.

Sata came into the election in Zambia again in 2006 as a presidential candidate, reaching 29 per cent the second best result. In the concurrent parliamentary elections, the PF won 46 seats. Their voices won the PF in 2006, especially in the townships of the Copperbelt and Lusaka, but also in the Northern Province and in the province of Luapula, where they could benefit from discontent over lack of investment and infrastructure development massively.
