Paul Berry (animator)

Paul Thomas Berry ( born March 13, 1961 in Leigh, Lancashire, † 26 June 2001 in Manchester ) was a British animator.

Life

Berry came in 1983, movie production studio Cosgrove Hall, where he was involved among other things, the puppet animation series The Wind in the Willows as an animator of Mr. Toad. His only film directing in 1991, the stop-motion animation short film, The Sandman, on a history of ETA Hoffmann based. Berry, who also animated and produced the film, was honored with numerous awards, including the Grand Prix of Hiroshima Kokusai animation festivals. He also received an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Short Film. Berry had attracted international attention - he then worked as an animator on Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) and Henry Selick's James and the Giant Peach (1996). He also animated numerous commercials. In February 2001, a brain tumor was discovered at Berry. He died four months later in Manchester.
