Paul Gégauff

Paul Gégauff [ ˌ pol ʒeɡof ] ( born August 10, 1922 in Blotzheim, France, † December 24, 1983 in Gjøvik, Norway) was a French screenwriter, novelist and film actor. He was married to actress Danièle Rosencranz, from whom he divorced later and wrote for many French film directors the script, as, inter alia, Éric Rohmer for Claude Chabrol, or for, with whom he worked most. For the screenplay for the film Only the sun was a witness, he was awarded the 1962 together with director René Clément an Edgar Allan Poe Award for best foreign film. Christmas 1983, he was stabbed by his second wife.
