Blotzheim

Blotzheim (Alsatian Blohze ) is a commune with 4172 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) on the edge of Sundgau which belongs to the canton Huningue in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. She is a member of the Communauté de communes des Trois Frontières ( CC3F ) and, in this panel four delegates.

Location

The place is between Mulhouse in the northwest ( about 24 miles) and Basel ( Switzerland ) in the southeast ( almost 10 miles). On the eastern edge of Blotzheim closest airport Basel- Mulhouse. Since the assignment of the district Neuweg (La Chaussée ) in 1958 to the city of Saint -Louis, the airport is no longer on the municipality.

History

The first mention of the place is in a charter in the year 728 under the name Flobestesheim as a possession of the monastery Murbach. From the 13th to the 17th century the village belonged to the Habsburg Further Austria, after which it came to France and shared the history of Alsace.

From 1915 to the community station had on the railway line Waldighoffen -Saint -Louis- la- Chaussee. This comprised three sidings and a loading track. The passenger was discontinued in 1955. Until 1992, perverted freight trains from Saint -Louis from up Blotzheim.
