Brunstatt

Brunstatt (Alsatian Brunscht ) is a commune with 6104 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It is part of the arrondissement of Mulhouse, the canton Mulhouse- Sud and member of the Association of Local Authorities Mulhouse Alsace AgglomÃ.

Geography

The community Brunstatt adjacent to the southwest of the city of Mulhouse, with which it is structurally and traffic engineering closely intertwined. By Brunstatt the Rhine- Rhone canal runs parallel to the River Ill, some of which forms the western boundary of the municipality. Brunstatt also had a station on the railway line Paris -Mulhouse, but this had to be closed with the opening of the LGV Rhin -Rhône. He is to be reopened as soon as it enables the capacity of the route.

History

A first mention of the locality there is in a document dating back to 1200, but that is probably much older: There possessions of the monastery are mentioned on the Mount Sainte-Odile under the name Burnen. Today the church is a member of the Association of Municipalities Mulhouse Alsace AgglomÃ.
