Paul Weingarten

Paul Weingarten ( born April 20, 1886 in Brno, Moravia, † April 11, 1948 in Vienna ) was an Austrian pianist and music teacher.

Life

Paul Weingarten studied music history at the University of Vienna. The study he completed in 1910 with the acquisition of the title of Doctor. He studied music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Among his teachers were Emil von Sauer (piano ), Robert Fox ( music theory ) and Guido Adler.

After traveling through Europe as a concert pianist, he became a piano teacher at the Vienna Music Academy. According to the testimony of jazz keyboardist Joe Zawinul, who was his student at the Vienna Conservatory, he left Austria, until he returned in 1945 to give a piano master class at the Vienna Music Academy.

He was with Anna Maria Josefa Elisabeth von Batthyány Strattmann (* March 23, 1909 Kittsee, † 21 September 1992 Vienna), a daughter of Ladislaus Batthyány - Strattmann married.

Weingarten died in 1948 and was buried in the Viennese central cemetery (30B -1 -22) in an honorary grave dedicated.
