Paulino Uzcudun

Paulino Uzcudun Eizmendi ( May 3, 1899 in Regil; † 5 July 1985) was Basque and was one of the most important Spanish heavyweight boxers.

In the U.S., he was known only by his first name Paulino. He was famous for his chin and his clout at the box technique he lacked, however.

Among his most famous opponents include the world champion Joe Louis, Max Schmeling, Primo Carnera, Tommy Loughran and Mickey Walker, which he was subject.

His most significant victories he succeeded against Max Baer, he hit more than twenty rounds on points, and Harry Wills, whom he defeated by knockout.

Was Uzcudun before his professional career butcher. He could ( including 34 by knockout ) look back at the end of his career at 50 wins and 17 defeats. Against Max Schmeling, he lost in 1929 in New York, in 1934 managed a flattering tie in Spain and lost on 7 July 1935 at the Berlin Postal Stadium. In his last fight against Joe Louis in 1935, he suffered his only knockout loss.
