Paulo Lopes de Faria

Paulo Lopes de Faria ( born February 24, 1931 in Igaratinga, Brazil, † July 16, 2009 in Belo Horizonte ) was Archbishop of Diamantina.

Life

On December 8, 1957 Paulo Lopes de Faria received the sacrament of Holy Orders.

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop on 7 November 1980 in Niterói and titular bishop of Thelepte. The episcopal ordination took place on 27 December of the same year by the Archbishop of Belo Horizonte João Resende Costa SDB; Co-consecrators were Serafim Fernandes de Araújo, Archbishop of Belo Horizonte, and Arnaldo Ribeiro, Auxiliary Bishop of Belo Horizonte. On December 16, 1983, appointed Bishop of Itabuna. He built on the St. Joseph's Seminary and was creating a large Pastoral Center. In addition, he was twice president of the Region "Regional 3" cnbb.

In 1995 he was appointed to the rice Koadjutorerzbischof of Diamantina and to support Geraldo Majela. After the retirement of Geraldo Majela rice on May 14, 1997, he succeeded him as Archbishop of Diamantina. He reformed the Archdiocese comprehensive and engaged from 1999 to also " Local 2" as President of the Region of cnbb.
