Pavel Buran

Pavel Buráň (born 25 April 1973 in Brno ) is a former Czech track cyclist and European champions.

From 1990 to 2005 belonged to Pavel Buráň, which is only 1.66 meters tall, the world's best track cyclists. 1990 and 1991, he came runner-up Junior World Champion in the sprint. In the UCI Track World Championships in 2001 and 2002 he was vice-champion in tandem race of amateurs, both times with Lubomir Hargaš. In the UCI Track World Championships 2000 in Manchester Buráň finished third in the Keirin.

Also at European Championships Buráň was successful. Several times he took the podium in the Omnium, he was European champion in this discipline in 2001. 1996 and 2000 he also took part in the Olympic Games, but without much success.

After his retirement from active cycling in 2005 Pavel Buráň worked for several years as a sprint coach of the Dutch national railway. He then worked for the Greek Cycling Federation and was also active as a tandem colleague for visually impaired Czech athletes.
