Pendle

Pendle is a local government district with the status of a borough in the county of Lancashire in England. Administrative center is the city of Nelson. Other important towns are Barnoldswick, Barrowford, Brierfield, Earby, Colne and Trawden. It is twinned with Marl in Germany.

The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from the merger of the Municipal Boroughs Nelson and Colne, the Urban Districts Barnoldswick, Barrowford, Brierfield, Earby and Trawden and parts of the Rural Districts Burnley and Skipton. Historically belonged Barnoldswick, Earby and Skipton to the West Riding of Yorkshire.

The district Pendle maintains a partnership with the North Rhine- Westphalian city of Marl
