Pentti Kahma

Pentti Aatos Kahma ( born December 3, 1943 in Alavieska ) is a former Finnish discus thrower. At a height of 1.88 m his competition weight was 112 kg.

After 1969 he was eliminated in qualifying at the European Championships in 1969, he reached in front of his home crowd at the European Championships 1971 in Helsinki for the first time a grand finale. He was sixth with 60.64 meters and had only 98 cm behind the second-placed Lothar Milde. In Munich at the Olympic Games in 1972, he was charged with 59.66 meters ninth.

His biggest success Kahma at the European Championships 1974 in Rome. With 63.62 meters he defeated the defending champion and reigning Olympic champion Ludvik Danek with 62.76 meters and the co-owner of the world record breaking Ricky with 62.00 meters and won as to date only, Finn the European title in the discus throw.

At the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976, he was with 63.12 meters sixth, after he had achieved in 1975 with 66.82 meters his best jump.
