Pervis Ellison

Pervis Ellison ( born April 3, 1967 in Savannah, Georgia ) is a retired American professional basketball player. Ellison was at the NBA Draft 1989, the First Overall Pick. His career, however, was mostly marked by injuries, so that he could never meet expectations.

Career

College

Ellison played four years for the University of Louisville. In his first year of college, Ellison won the 1986 NCAA title and was voted the Most Outstanding Player. He was only the second freshman after Arnie Ferrin (1944 ), to have managed this.

NBA

Ellison came forward in 1989 NBA Draft and was selected in 1 out of the Sacramento Kings. Due to injury, however, Ellison came only in 48 of 82 games for, scoring 8.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. After the season he was transferred to the Washington Bullets. In Washington he developed in the 1991/92 season to the performers and the team won the NBA Most Improved Player Award. He played the best season of his career, scoring 20.0 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.7 blocks per game. In the following season, but its statistical values ​​were due to injuries. Ellison was struggling with knee problems, so that he was able to complete only 49 or 47 games for the Bullets between 1992 and 1994.

In 1995 he moved to the Boston Celtics. His time in Boston was marked by injuries. Due to a broken toe missed Ellison between 1996 and 1998 many games.
