Pestișu Mic

Pestisu Mic or Mic Pestisu ( [ pestiʃu mic ] outdated Pestisul de Sus; Hungarian Felsőpestes or Felpestes ) is a town in Hunedoara County, Transylvania, Romania.

Geographical location

Located in the southwestern part of the historical region of Transylvania, the community is located in the center of the circle Hunedoara. Covering an area of about 5100 hectares, the nine eingemeindeten villages and scattered settlements between 2-10 kilometers away from the community center. Am Bach pestis - a left tributary of the Cerna - and on the county road (drum Judetean ) DJ 708e is the place Pestisu Mic three kilometers west of the city of Hunedoara; the district capital Deva ( Deva ) is located 15 kilometers north of Pestisu Mic.

History

The Hungarian medieval place - today Pestisu Mic - was first mentioned in 1330. For the Hungarian noble family - the descendants of Herman - the place belonged Romanian settlements in the 14th century three. However, the settlement of the region dates back according to reports by JM Ackner until the Roman period. On the grounds of the resort in 1856 remains were found by buildings from the Roman period. Demography

In the 1850 census, lived on the territory of the present municipality of 2,356 people. 2,259 of these were Romanians, 37 Hungarians and 48 Roma. The highest population ( 2,509 ) - at the same time the Romanians ( 2428 ) and Hungary (59) - was reached in 1910. The highest number of Germans ( 21) in 1880 and the Roma determined 1850. In 2002, 1,290 people in the community, of which 1,261 Romanians, Magyars were twelve, eleven were Roma, four described themselves as German and two as Greeks.

In Pestisu Mic is a reformed church and some neglected manor houses, in Valea Nandrului (white village) is a Romanian Orthodox Church. The crumbling wooden church Sf. Nicolae, built in the 18th century in Almasu Mic (Hungarian Keresztényalmás ) is still listed in the list of historical monuments in Romania.
