Peter Borgelt

Peter Borgelt ( born September 20, 1927 in Rostock, † March 18, 1994 in Berlin) was a German film and theater actor.

Life and work

Peter Borgelt was born into a family of artists in Rostock. His father Paul Borgelt ( born February 16, 1887 in Osnabrück, † August 28 1971 in Bad Pyrmont ) was an actor and his mother Thea Krumreich singer. She worked at various theaters.

After the end of World War II Borgelt began an apprenticeship as a construction worker, he wanted to be a composer and enrolled in the Conservatory Kamenz one. During his studies he worked as an assistant at circle theater Burgstädt, suddenly found the profession of actor favor and took private acting lessons, before 1950 - was given to his father's side an engagement at the theater Burgstädter - after passing the exam. After a further stage stations in Meiningen, Halberstadt, Magdeburg, Leipzig and Schwerin he came in 1967 to the German Theatre in Berlin. The character actor was a member of the local ensemble until his death in 1994. The last time on the stage you could see Borgelt in The Tower of Hofmannsthal and The Forest of Ostrowski.

His first television appearance was Borgelt in the GDR music show Klock 8, aft power. Introduced him the role of Lieutenant fox ', from the end of 1978, Captain Fuchs ' in the GDR - crime series Police 110, in which he played in 84 episodes from 1971 to 1991. The series was known beyond the borders of the GDR. Borgelt was known for his deliberate and calm manner and his sonorous voice. A magazine called him the " East German Maigret " and compared Borgelt with Jean Gabin.

On March 18, 1994, he succumbed to the age of 66 from cancer. He is buried at the cemetery in Berlin -Karl Horst.

Borgelt was married three times, he has two sons and a daughter.
