Peter Jonas (figure skater)

Peter Jonas (born 18 June 1941 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian figure skater and figure skating coach.

The four- times Austrian champion decreased in the period 1957 to 1965 in nine European championships, six World Championships and two Olympic Games part. His greatest success as a single runner was winning the bronze medal at the European Championships 1965 in Moscow. His best result at the World Championships was sixth place in 1963 in Cortina d' Ampezzo and his best finish at the Olympic Games 1964 in Innsbruck, seventh place.

After his playing career, Jonas worked as a trainer primarily in Dortmund, Oberstdorf and Vienna. Known supervised by him German athletes were Patricia Neske, Simone Lang, Astrid Hochstetter, Sarah Jentgens and Tanja Szewczenko.
