Peter Wilson (ski jumper)
Peter Wilson ( born October 22, 1952 in Ottawa ) is a former Canadian ski jumper.
Career
His international debut Wilson at the Four Hills Tournament 1971/72. His best result here he reached rank 56 in the opening event in Innsbruck. In the overall standings, he landed on the 69th Place. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1972 in Sapporo Wilson jumped on the normal hill to 56th place. From the large hill he was after jumping on points with the German Heinz Wosipiwo on the 39th place.
A few weeks after the games started Wilson at the Ski Flying World Championships 1972 in Planica and landed in individual flies on the 22nd place. The following Four Hills Tournament 1972/73 Wilson denied his successful tour. Already at the opening event on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf, he reached rank 24, the best individual result for a tour in his career. After he just knocked off landed in Garmisch -Partenkirchen and Innsbruck in midfield, he joined the Tournament in Bischofshofen from a good 34th place. In the overall standings, he was ranked 38th
In the Ski Flying World Championships 1973 in Oberstdorf Wilson landed in a single fly on a very good tenth place. After he showed only a weak performance in the following Four Hills Tournament 1973/74 and in the overall rank only 58 finished, he competed at the 1974 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun. In the individual competition on the large hill he reached by jumps of 86 and 77 yards to 34th place. From the normal hill Wilson landed after jumps of 70 and 69 meters square 59
After two more weak Four Hills tours, in which he did not even jumped into the top 50, Wilson played his last international tournament with the launch at the Olympic Winter Games in 1976 in Innsbruck, where he jumped from the normal hill on the 36th. From the large hill he reached 45th place
In January 1977, he suffered a leg injury complicated with fracture and finished despite initial hopes of a comeback in the episode his active ski jumping career.
