Phoenix (Band)

Phoenix is a band from Versailles, which plays danceable indie pop. The band's name is based on a Phoenix logo that has seen during a holiday in Madagascar the band. Since they needed a name to route a single on the band's own record label, Ghetto Blaster can - the band did not want to be tied with a record contract at the major labels - the name was just right.

Band History

The core of the band, the two brothers Christian and Laurent Mazzalai Brancowitz (formerly guitarist in a band with Thomas Bangalter and Guy Manuel de Homem Christo of Daft Punk). Celebrity fan of the band is Sofia Coppola, who used the song Too Young from the album United in her film Lost in Translation. In the film, Marie Antoinette by Sofia Coppola from the year 2006, the Group had a brief guest appearance as a court musician. Thomas Mars, the lead singer of the band, has lived since 2005, together with Sofia Coppola. Together they have two daughters ( Romy and Cosima * 2006 * 2010). Thomas Mars is the nephew of a German journalist and literary critic Hellmuth Karasek and writer Horst Karasek.

For Sofia Coppola's film Somewhere from the 2010 Phoenix wrote the music. In Coppola's film The Bling Ring the song is Bankrupt! to hear.
