Pian di Scò

Pian di Scò is a district of the municipality of Castelfranco Piandiscò with 6465 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Arezzo, in Tuscany region of Italy.

Geography

The site covers approximately 18 km ². It is located about 35 km northwest of Arezzo and 30 km southeast of Florence. The district Matassino is located on the Arno.

Other districts include Faella, Menzano, Montalpero, San Miniato, Simonti and Vaggio.

The nearby towns are Castelfranco di Sopra, Figline Valdarno (FI) and Reggello ( FI).

History

Pian di Scò ( capital )

By the end of the 18th century, the history of the site is subject to the built around the year 1000 Romanesque church of Santa Maria a Scò. About the names of origin, there are two theories: The first derives the name from the nearby Arno inflow from Resco, the second refers to the name Aesculus, the oak of Jupiter. Under rule of the Republic of Florence, the parish of the Lega di Castelfranco joined. After dissolution of the Lega in 1774 by Leopold II Pian di Scò the neighboring municipality of Castelfranco was affiliated. After the occupation of Tuscany by Napoleonic troops in 1809 the church became independent. 1873 Palazzo Comunale (Town Hall ) was built.

Faella (village of Pian di Scò )

The name derives from the location is the same river that flows through Faella and a few kilometers west flows into the Arno. Originally the river were two places the name: Faella for the lower part and Favilla for lying higher. 1311, both parts were merged to form the community Faella. With the reforms of Leopold II Faella 1773 the neighboring town of Pian di Scò was affiliated. During the retreat of the German soldiers of the premises at the end of World War II was almost completely destroyed.

Matassino (village of Pian di Scò )

Matassino is the hamlet of Pian di Scò, which lies on the Arno. In addition, he is a part of a total of three communities in two provinces: Figline Valdarno and Reggello in the Province of Florence and of Castelfranco Piandiscò ( Arezzo ).
