Music and lyrics

Pianos Become the Teeth is part of the movement The Wave, which is a new generation of post-hardcore bands with similar ideological views.

Musically, Pianos Become the Teeth writes songs with influences of early screamo bands like City of Caterpillar and Funeral Diner, but also post-rock bands like This Will Destroy You. In an interview the band said that it honor them, although to be referred to as screamo, but generally they tend not to advocate it.

Singer Kyle Durfey writes very personal lyrics that often deal with special events from his life. On the album Old Pride he sings, for example, about the " Young Fire ", which can be felt in his youth, and the "old pride " ( eng. old pride ) to be able to feel good with his life in old age.
