Pierre Dervaux

Pierre Dervaux ( born January 3, 1917 in Juvisy -sur -Orge, † February 20, 1992 in Marseille) was a French conductor, composer and music teacher.

Life

Dervaux was born in 1917 in a church in Paris. He studied piano with Isidore Philipp and Yves Nat at the Conservatoire de Paris, and counterpoint and harmony with Marcel Samuel -Rousseau, Jean and Noël Gallon.

In 1945 he made ​​his conducting debut with the Orchestre Pasdeloup. From 1947 to 1953 he was chief conductor of the orchestra of the Opéra -Comique and 1949-1955 Deputy Director of Concerts Pasdeloup. From 1956 to 1972 he was principal conductor and orchestra conductor of the Paris Opera. From 1968 to 1975, he stood before the Quebec Symphony Orchestra. In 1971 he became artistic director of the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire ( ONPL ) and worked in addition from 1979 to 1982 as music director of the Opera of Nice. He has served as guest conductor in the U.S., Asia and Europe. Premieres he conducted, inter alia, by Darius Milhaud, Jean Françaix, Henry Barraud, Emmanuel Bonde Ville and Pierre Capdevielle.

He taught from 1964 to 1986 at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, from 1965 to 1972 at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and 1972-1981 the International Summer Academy in Nice. His students included, inter alia, Jean -Claude Casadesus, Sylvain Cambreling, Dominique Rouits, Adrian McDonnell, Georges Aperghis, Patrick Juzeau, Patrick Botti, Jean Leccia and Jean -Pierre Wallez.
