Pietro Canonica

Pietro Canonica (* March 1, 1869 in Moncalieri, † June 8, 1959 in Rome) was an Italian composer, medalist and sculptor.

Career

The city of Rome presented Canonica a former administrative building of the 17th century in the park of Villa Borghese for his work available. Pietro Canonica bequeathed still alive in return the city to pay off its debts some of his works of art. After the artist's and his wife 's death, the house was opened as a museum to the public. Canonica in 1950 was appointed by President Luigi Einaudi for a senator for life.
