The 779 km long Pinega (Russian Пинега ) is a right tributary of the Northern Dvina in the north of the European part of Russia.

The Pinega arises in the east of Arkhangelsk Oblast in 135 m height from the short, about 30 km long source rivers Belaya ( " whiteness " ) and Chernaya ( " the Black "). First, it flows in a wide valley in mainly north-westerly direction through the taiga of northern East European lowlands, turns to the last good 100 kilometers south-west direction, and finally ends at the village of Ust- Pinega in the lower reaches of the Northern Dvina ( at 1 m ).

The Pinega is crossed twice by the railway Arkhangelsk Karpogory.
