Pinglin District

Pinglin (Chinese坪林 区, pinyin Pinglin Qū, PEH oē - jī Phia ⁿ -LIM) is a district of the city of New Taipei City in northern Taiwan, Republic of China.

Location and meaning

Pinglin is located on the southeastern edge of the city of New Taipei City and is the third largest district of the city. Its neighboring districts are Shiding in the West, Pingxi in northern and Shuangxi in the east; in the south is bordered Pinglin to the district and county Wulai, Yilan. The district is drained by the river Beishi. The landscape of Pinglin is predominantly hilly and is used for tea cultivation.

The population density Pinglins is the second lowest of the city of New Taipei. Most of the inhabitants are employed in the cultivation of tea Pinglins. A major product is the Pouchong tea. In 1997, the Pinglin - tea museum was opened.
