Piotr Małachowski

Piotr Małachowski ( born June 7, 1983 in Żuromin ) is a Polish discus thrower, who became European Champion in 2010.

The U23 European Vice-Champion of 2005. During the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 2006 and sixth at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka Twelfth

In 2008 he presented on 27 July in Sopot with 68,65 m his fourth Polish record and won at the Olympic Games in Beijing 67.82 m silver medal behind Gerd Kanter (EST ) and before Virgilijus Alekna (LTU). His previously best competition he played at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in 2009. In the final he was in the first attempt with 68,77 m a new Polish record and improved the record for the fifth attempt to 69,15 m. He was the race leader since his first attempt and was surpassed only by the last attempt of the German Robert Harting starter with 69.43 m. Malachowski thus won the silver medal. It was the first medal of the Polish discus thrower in the history of the IAAF World Championships.

The following year he improved in Gateshead his best performance to 69,83 m. Shortly thereafter, he threw at the European Championships in Barcelona on the discus 68.87 meters and won with forty centimeters ahead of Robert Harting his first gold in an international competition. At the 2011 World Championships Małachowski was ninth and at the Olympic Games in London in 2012 he reached the fifth place.

The 1.93 m wide and about 135 kg thrower won from 2005 to 2009 five Polish Champion title. Małachowski starts for Slask Wroclaw.
