Pisces I (dwarf galaxy)

The Pices I dwarf galaxy ( briefly also Pisces I) is a decay in exploiting dividend dwarf galaxy in the constellation of Pisces and still be seen as a frequency in the galactic halo. It was discovered in 2009 after analysis of the distribution of RR Lyrae stars in the survey of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey.

The galaxy is located at a distance of 80 kpc to our solar system and moves to the Sun at a speed of 75 km / s.

Pices I is one of the faintest satellites of the Milky Way. Their mass is estimated to be about 105 M ☉. The mass of Pisces I can be just because of this fact, extremely difficult to estimate, since in this case the velocity dispersion is not correlated with the mass of the galaxy. Show the great extent of about 1 ° on the one hand and the irregular shape on the other hand, that I Pisces is in transition from a gravitationally bound to a gravitationally unbound system.

Pisces I is located close to the plane, where also the Magellanic Clouds. Maybe there is a physical connection between this galaxy and the Magellanic stream.
