Pivka

Pivka ( German: St. Peter in Carniola, Italian: San Pietro del Carso ) is a municipality in the region of Primorska ( Littoral ) in Slovenia.

Location and population

In the overall community consisting of 29 villages 6102 people live. The main town Pivka alone has 2059 inhabitants and is situated in the southwest of the country, north of Ilirska Bistrica river of the same Pivka.

Worth seeing

In Pivka the Military Historical Park Park is vojaške zgodovine. You can see there tanks, tracked vehicles and artillery pieces from the past and modern vehicles that are no longer due to the accession to NATO requires the Slovenian Army. Shown is this extensive collection in an old barracks.

Traffic

Pivka lies on the railway line Ljubljana- Trieste, branches off from the here the route into Croatian Rijeka.
