Name

The name probably derives from Gurschus Gruscha (Romansh in the idiom Sutselvisch for scabies, rash, scabies ), which was transferred to poor pasture etc.. In the first edition of the leader of Piz digl Gurschus was still referred to as the Gruesome. The mountain is chopped and crumbly and their flanks are furrowed by several channels. The extensive screes at the foot of the mountain betrayed the poor quality of the rock and make the ascents tedious. The climbing in the brittle, loose rock in many places no longer corresponds to today's tastes.
