Plánice

Plánice ( German Planitz ) is a city in the Czech Republic. It is located 13 kilometers east of Klatovy at the Úslava and belongs to Okres Klatovy.

Geography

The city is located in the foothills of the Bohemian Forest on the left side of the Úslava. In Plánice the state roads 187 cross between Nepomuk and Sušice with 186 of Klatovy to Zborovy.

Neighboring towns are Újezd ​​Plánice and Kratice in the north, Kvasetice in the northeast, Zborovy in the east, in the southeast Plichtice, Hnačov in the south, Nová Plánice in the southwest, and Vracov Kvaslice in the west and Vitkovice in the northwest.

History

The first mention of the village was carried out in 1144 in connection with the establishment of the Cistercian monastery Pomuk. Plánice was the seat of secular rule, belong to their owners the Schwanberger, Sternberger, Rosental and Martinic. Adolf Bernhard Graf Martinic commissioned at the beginning of the 18th century the architect Kilian Ignaz Dietzenhofer with the construction of a basilica on the two kilometers southeast of the town hill of Nicov. After he had acquired in 1726 Grünberg, he concluded Planitz on to this rule.
