Plastun (urban-type settlement)

Plastun (Russian Пластун ) is an urban-type settlement in Primorsky Krai (Russia) with 5350 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The settlement is situated on the bay of the Sea of ​​Japan, about 400 kilometers ( direct distance) north-east of the regional capital Vladivostok. In the hinterland of the Sikhote -Alin densely forested mountains rise with the mountain Gluchomanka up to 1595 m. Seven kilometers north of Plastun flows into the river Dschigitowka (formerly also Iodsyche or Chantachesa called ) in the adjacent bay Dschigit. History

The settlement was founded in 1907 after a Russian military post had already been established in the 19th century further north on the Dschigit Bay.
