Plavecké Podhradie

Plavecké Podhradie (Slovak to 1927 " Plavecký Podhrad "; German bladder stone or Plasenstein, Hungarian Detrekőváralja ) is a municipality in Okres Malacky within the Bratislavský kraj in Slovakia.

Geography

The town lies on the western slopes of the Little Carpathians in the landscape Zahorie ( German Marchauen ). The mountain Vápenná ( 752 m nm) rises 3 km south of the town, while the hill Pohanská (495 m nm) is 1 km to the northeast. Plavecké Podhradie is located on the road between Lozorno and Jablonica and 30 km from Malacky, and 33 km from Senica away.

History

The mountain Pohanská is a location for a Celtic oppidum and numerous finds of the Lusatian culture. The town itself was built in the 11th and 12th century, when the Cumans ( Slow Plavci ), a turktatarisches people, served here as border guards for the Kingdom of Hungary. The first document dates from 1247, where the place is mentioned as Detreh. The German name bladder stone is mentioned in 1396. The place belonged to the estate of Castle bladder stone ( Plavecký hrad ).

Until 1918 the village belonged to the county Pressburg the Kingdom of Hungary, after which he came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia.

  • Castle bladder stone ( Slow Plavecký hrad ), a former royal border castle, built in the years 1256-73, 1707 abandoned after a siege

  • Some caves in the area ( eg Plavecká Cave, Pri Krizi )
