PÅ‚awniowice

Pławniowice ( German Plawniowitz ) is a town in Upper Silesia. Pławniowice located in the municipality Rudziniec ( Rudzinitz ) in the powiat Gliwice ( Gleiwitz circle ) in the Polish province of Silesia.

Geography

Pławniowice is located six kilometers northeast of the municipal center Rudziniec, 19 kilometers northwest of the county town of Gliwice ( Gleiwitz ) and 41 kilometers west of the voivodship Katowice.

Pławniowice lies between the Klodnitz, Gliwice Canal and the Pławniowice lake in the north and the A4 motorway in the south.

History

Plawniowitz was first mentioned in documents in 1317. In 1798 the estate was acquired by Plawniowitz Count Carl Franz Ballestrem.

Between 1882 and 1885 the family Ballestrem had built the Renaissance castle Plawniowitz in Plawniowitz.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 222 voters voted to remain in Germany and 437 for Poland .. Plawniowitz remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 1284 inhabitants in the town. On 12 February 1936, the town was renamed in Flößingen. In 1939 the place 1359 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Tost - Gleiwitz.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Pławniowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Katowice Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to Silesia and powiat Krapkowicki.
