The Plymouth Airport (IATA: PLH, ICAO: EGHD; engl. Plymouth City Airport ) was a regional airport in Plymouth in southwest England.

History

The history of aviation in Plymouth extends to 1923 At that time, were first passengers -. Were boarded in a post flight - transported in the region. This first successful flight and raised the question of a permanent airfield. Finally, the Plymouth airport was opened by the Prince of Wales in July 1931. The airport is now one of the Sutton Harbour Holdings, in which also owns Air Southwest is located.

In August 2009, the shorter of the two start and runways were permanently closed. It is planned to re- cultivate parts of their floor space with commercial and residential buildings.

In February 2011, the hitherto most frequented route was discontinued after passenger numbers at London Gatwick for economic reasons. On 23 December 2011, the company was finally completely set and the airport closed.

Location and Transport

The airport is about 3 km north of the center of Plymouth Derriford district provides exclusively connected by road. At the airport itself hold no buses, but there are stop with the lines 28 and 29 ( Plymouth Citybus ) and 83 and 84 (First) within walking distance.

Airlines and destinations

The airport was equipped last no more line connections. Air Southwest led last flights to Aberdeen, Bristol, Glasgow, Guernsey, Jersey, Leeds and Manchester by, but shifted this July 28, 2011 on the Newquay Cornwall Airport.
