Podivice

Podivice ( German Podiwitz, formerly Podiewitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located ten kilometers north of Vyškov and belongs to Okres Vyškov.

Geography

Podivice is eight kilometers west of the geographical center of Moravia, the crest Předina (312 m), in the eastern part of the Drahany country. The community forms an enclave in the field of the training area Brezina. To the east lies the valley of the brook Ferdinandský creek, the north-east of the village with the Pulkava or Little Border creek to the river Brodečka united. To the north rise the Mravenečný (410 m) and the Perná ( 396 m), northeast of the U Chaloupky (413 m), southeast the Vojenská ( 442 m). in the southwest of Věsperk (Meadow Mountain, 457 m) and Srnčí ( Rehberg, 537 m) and in the northwest the Stříbrná (Silver Mountain, 551 m). North is at the Pulkava the drinking water reservoir Brodečka. The Pulkava forms the historic border between the districts and Vyškov Prostějov.

Surrounding villages are Prostějovičky, Křenůvky and Myslejovice in the north, Kobylničky and Otaslavice in the northeast, Hatě, Family, Sněhotice and Ondratice in the east, Želeč and Drysice the southeast, Zelena Hora and Kotáry in the south, Véspěrk and Jandova Bouda in the southwest and Ferdinandsko in the West.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1143 as a possession of the bishopric of Olomouc. The original name Poděvice derives from the pagan goddess Poděva whose worship was at the place Na Valech in the woods at the Dudín. From 1465 belonged to the smaller goods of the diocese. The bishops took advantage of the great forests surrounding the hunting of deer and the silver mountain mining was carried out on silver ore. Below the silver mountain built in the 15th century, the first deer park in the Kingdom of Bohemia. 1755, Bishop Julius Ferdinand Troyer in the woods west of Podiwitz the hunting lodge Ferdinand rest with the hl. Create Eustace consecrated chapel. In 1836 died during the outbreak of cholera 16 inhabitants. 1838, the village school was inaugurated.

After the abolition of patrimonial Podivice formed with the district Skotačky 1850 a municipality in the district team Wischau. 1862 a major fire destroyed the entire village. Because of the increasing number of teaching children was in 1882 a new school house. Since 1891 funds for a church building were collected, which was finally realized 1910-1911. 1927, founded the volunteer fire department. In 1935 the congregation purchased the surrounding 3697 ha of forest and thus became one of the largest surface area in Moravia. During the German occupation in 1940 was the decision to expand the firing Wischau to a large military training area of the Wehrmacht. Among the 33 for the setting up of the training area Wischau to -clearing villages, a total of 43 in Moravia, was among the first, to October 31, 1941 to be implemented stage also Podiwitz. In the 103 houses in the community were living at that time 333 people. After the end of World War II the town was settled again in June 1945. 239 of the displaced returned after the war, in their dilapidated houses, others moved to the border areas. At the beginning of 1946, the municipality Podivice was officially re-established. On 1 May 1951, the establishment of the training area Brezina, the local National Committee sold the community forests associated to the state. Thus the land was reduced to 225,30 ha and Podivice was one of the smallest communities in Moravia. 1977, the classes were set in Podivice, school location has since Pustiměř. 1986 Podivice was incorporated into Pustiměř, since 1990, the commune is again.
